Divorce

Divorce is considered one of the top 5 most traumatic events that can happen to a person during his or her lifetime. If you or your spouse are considering a divorce, it is important that you seek legal counsel to be sure you know and protect your rights.

If your spouse has filed for divorce, you should retain an attorney immediately. The issues in divorce include:

  • custody,
  • visitation,
  • child support,
  • spousal support,
  • alimony,
  • property, and
  • stalking and domestic violence (Personal Protection Orders).

Other issues may include:

  • who moves from the marital residence,
  • who pays the expenses such as mortgage, utilities, food, insurance, and debt prior to the Judgment of Divorce being entered,
  • finding hidden assets, and
  • withdrawals from joint bank and investment accounts, and much more.

While it is often possible to settle a divorce in an amicable manner, it is essential that you have an attorney to represent your interests. Should you have any questions, call me at 517.487.6603 or e-mail me at srs@stushafer.com.
